Privacy policy

The short version
FreeGameAlert has no accounts and no login. Your wishlist, theme and alert settings are stored only in your own browser (localStorage) and never sent to us. We use Google Analytics for visitor statistics and may show ads from Google AdSense, both described below.
What's stored on your device
- Wishlist: the games you saved and the price when you saved them, so we can show a "price dropped" badge.
- Theme: your dark/light choice.
- Browser alerts: if you turn them on, a list of free games you've already been alerted about. Your browser asks for permission first, and you can revoke it anytime in your browser settings.
Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it.
Email alerts
If you sign up for email alerts, your address is processed by our email provider only to send those alerts. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell or share email addresses.
Hosting and logs
The site is static and hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may log technical data such as IP addresses to keep the service secure. See GitHub's privacy statement.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are useful. It sets cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type. We don't send your name, email or wishlist to Google Analytics. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Affiliate links
Some links to stores are affiliate links. When you click one, the store (or CheapShark, which routes deal links) may set cookies to credit the referral. Their privacy policies apply on their sites.
Advertising
Pages may show one ad from a third-party network such as Google AdSense. Those networks may use cookies to show relevant ads and measure performance. You can manage personalized ads at Google Ad Settings and learn more at how Google uses data from partner sites. Where the law requires it, we ask for consent before personalized ads load.
Children
FreeGameAlert isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their personal information.
